39 Journal Sullivan J. 1962 Barrow, Alaska 17 July (cont.) morning. A fair breeze + OFF help comfort mosquitoes. Took point samples by high Polygon area on beach ridge near your line. With Gary Stevens this afternoon - set out snap trap lines III A+B, IV A+B. Central portion of IV A+B still wet - shoe packs sink in a couple of inches. 18 July Barrow, Alaska Checked trap lines, with Stevens, this morning. 4 Lemmings taken, including one juvenile. Day: clear and sunny, fairly warm. To Voth Area with point sampling apparatus this afternoon. 3 quadrates (2.2 x 2.2 meter) here. Took a sample inside + outside the first. Also worked on marking pins to facilitate use in the field. A mark, every 1/2 cm. (Scratched in w/scale) Adab of paint(red) every 10 mm BRASS PIN Starting from hook. 10 mm - red 30 mm - yellow red 80 mm - ylw red 50 mm - " " yellow 100 mm - ylw red ylw See also - papers concerning pt. sampling. 19 July Barrow, Alaska with Stevens to trap lines this morning. another warm day. Scratched away at pins for pt. sampling the rest of the morning. This is an exacting task, but makes marking easier in the field. Point sampled on beach ridge this afternoon. Checked lines with Stevens this evening.
