Journal Sullivan, I. 1962 Barrow, Alaska 17 June Camped to live traps. Bohneach wanted to get out away from camp just to see condition of the tundra. The water running from Family Lagoon to the ocean has gone down a little - the top of the track now shown above water. Travel road to the missile tracking site makes travel easy in this direction - once you cross the outlet of Family Lagoon. Live trap area - could see 7 snowy owls from this area (at one time). Live traps are still non- productive (though a little better tonight - capture). Back to camp around 2230. 18 June Barrow, Alaska With Rick Ashley (assistant of Bohneach), and Henri to trap live. 2 Lemmings in live traps - a new add. 9 and one captive. 4 laggapas in my tame - returned to meet while we watched a short distance away. - To snap traps - Family Lagoon outlet down a little more. Weather today: warm and cloudy - seems to be threatening rain. Ashley took some soil samples with a core device - to check for insect larvae. Henri collected a muddy turnstone. Overcast today with a light rain falling intermittently (afternoon). Worked on soil samples and checked live traps this afternoon. Located a snow hunting nest in high polygon area where
