Journal Sullivan J. 1962 Barrow, Alaska 16 June (cont) near III-A - 1.6. (all 4 eggs). I got off slowly and with much wing flutter. Niner marked the nest with a trap stuck 4 ft to the west - too much water to the east. A young dog (from micile tracking base) was in the area. Very finicky- chased leise, ran about. May be troublesome on the trap line. 17 June 56° at 0800 this Sunday morning. A very clear sunny day. Ad & Lemmer in live trap. The 4th lemming taken in the live trap area. Niner photographed the longspur nest this morning....To snap traps across outlet of family Lagoon. Water was not quite so high today. A Lemmer taken in snap traps. Also saw a short-eared owl in vicinity of line (3A+B) Afternoon - warm + rainy. Niner, Steven and I collected in Voth Area. Golden plover, red-backed sandpiper, semipalmated s., red phalarope, longspur were taken. Saw one pictural displaying and others were heard in vicinity. Also a pair of ruddy turnstones in area - turn- stones are difficult to approach. Niner went toward lines IIIA+B while I hunted high polygon near Salt Lagoon no. 1. Steven moved the weasel - to which we brought our kill. Returned to camp about 1740. Bobreach, Niner and I to snap traps IIIA+B
