Journal Sullivan J. 1762 Barrow, Alaska 13 June (coat). a freshly dropped owl pellet. Posterior ½ of a lemming was largely undigested. Muzzle of hind legs and rump intact. Also saw a parasitic jaeger within ¾ of a mi. of receiver site. 2015-2140 chicked snap traps (I+II) and live traps - no captures (either). Still sunny, somewhat cool. Mass of gray over Barrow + Browerville - sun just by the edge of the arc around 2130. 14 June Barrow, Alaska -with Holmes to Shrewail today. Weather cloudy (overcast), fairly stiff breeze. Tundra condition extremely bad for wheel travel. Melting ice and snow very easily broken through. Must particularly watch out for sloughs - Shot 2 & longspurs on way to the lake. Holmes collected a few r-b sandpipers. Nearby lake we saw 4 white fronted geese, 26 black brant and about 30 pintails. Saw a bar- tailed godwit about 4 mi. from the wagon. Holmes took the specimen. Found a pair of snow buntings nesting in the air went to the wagon. A sliding door from the incisile makes it possible to look right into the nest. Saw ±6 pomarine jaegers, a snow goose, 2 Canada geese while on Holmes' census plot.
