Driving the weasel still very tricky- much breaking through snow and ice; neccesitating slow, careful navigation over tundra. Red-backs calling near Beach Ridge. Live traps empty - snow is receding rapidly in this area. Prow stake uncovered - 0830 Drove Ritelka to Beach Ridge near census plot. Miner and I continued to Dartine Ridge - checked snaptraps. 1 solo Lemming and 3 longpours captured. Sunny, mild weather continues. Other lines should open up soon. Live traps empty at 0945. Cade has 3 nesting shrikes in the lab, which he is attempting to rear. Feeds them fresh killed birds (or Lemmings). Cade is also running some Temperature experiments with Lemmings: immerse them in an ice bath lowering their temp, allows recovery for a day or 2 before using same animal over again. Cade wants to determine how low a temp. Lemming can withstand - Finished checking functioning of all 8 packs of snap-traps (baited too). Closed Live traps at 1600 - no captures. Miner noticed
