Journal Sullivan, F. Wainwright, Alaska → Barrow locating the traps. August 9 Another warm sunny day today - with mosquitoes. One small or lemming plus longspurs in the traps this morning. Met 2 of the workers at the site on the way back from the lines. They were on their way to the garbage dump - 2 miles east of the site along the lagoon, went along for the ride. Lots of lemming sign at the dump - all d last year. Blaucour geese were common around the dump. Waited for the cool evening to check the traps again - mosquitoes were active. 2130-2330 checked traps. August 10 Broken cloud cover today, but still warm. No lemmings in the traps this morning. Called Mullen at ARH about the flight back. Should be tomorrow afternoon or the next day. Checked trap lines I and II early - 1630-1730 and brought them in. Checked III+IV after supper, decided to bring them in tomorrow morning. August 11 Brought in lines III + IV 0830-1030. Waited for the flight. Joe Fields arrived at 1700 and we left for Barrow. Overcast and a very light rain on the way. Caribou were fairly numerous - bands of 6-50. Saw one snowy owl NE of Igc. A dead whale
