tough, semiplastic, finely silty, slicked, minor brownish stains in lower part. Weathers to light grey band. 16.5 Claystone, grey mottled with purplish red, finely silty. Soft at top becoming tougher & semiplastic downward. Grades to units above and below. Most red + purple variation is in upper 3or4 ft. where clay has greenish cast 0.5 Claystone, olive to deep reddish grey weathers to yellow + red, has some greenish grey zones. Zone of concentrated spherulite. 7.14 Claystone, chiefly dark grey in lower 2.0, becoming lighter grey above. Soft, plastic, with local Fe red+yellow splotches from weathered spherulite accumulations. Top in sharp contact with carbonaceous sandy siltstone - about 3' of it to sandy ledge but grades with SS & IBwith it. 52
