Purchased of the first lady one fish for 70d. The salmon keeper gave me a small one, Stokshu. Of Craig for 5.75 I secured 3 fishes and found me on his dump. Of George Haddenham I purchased the large gar fish in fine prices for $300 In some aspects it is better than the one Eastman secured. He said he paid $500. for it. He also secured a small excellent bird. He probate that he purchased both for less than $400. I spent to take out the insects and plants of Craig for 5 to 10 d a piece. James Haddenham & C. H. Smale are the most extensive fish diggers here. Craig tells me that Eastman's large specim. gar is broken into several pieces and that in taking it out they cut through the head loosy several webs of the neck. They then stitch the parts togeth or paint to close the hiatus. The Haddenhams have a bad local reputation. The gar Mr. Post has at Remmere by the postmaster, is a small one, near 18 inches. The head lays so as to appear to show
