Arriving in Kansas learned that Judge Lay was away attending court. Know several gentlemen one of whom knew of the place where Krog and others had found bones. Then called on Judge Lay's son and with him drove to the place. The Chactoma locality is situated on land formerly owned by the [illegible] heirs but now belongs to Mr. J. B. Clarke. It is situated near the Osage river in bottom land about 2 1/2 miles south west of Kansas. The largest swamp in near a good being blamed up, it could known be cut and drained so that one could drive over.
