"The 'Two Bar' outfit saw a line of levels for irrigation purposes and learned that the entire site had a depth of 1700 feet. Returned to camp with Knight an Cornell very tired. Walked an climbed at least 25 miles. The erosion seen today is wonderful. In places there are ruined castles five range after another towering above for a height from 400 to 2600 feet. These between the castles are the bluish-white tules often studied with specimens in peines many of which have their roots exposed appearing as if standing on stilts. Collected the Stenthorium mineral here. Also some Physical photos. Aug. 15. Tuesday. Camps XI & XII. Crisle camp at 9.30 and camp this evening on Little Medicine River near 4 from mile crossing. We are now nearly at the end of the Tertiary. The bright red Tertiary is between us and the Laramie range. To day we again saw many sage chickens ad antelope. Also sheep herders. At their night camp around the major which is situated our rather the sheep are herded. Some little distance for the major a stick with a ray is stationed which scares away our coyotes for stealing lambs. The Flatheads say in two danger,
