July 29-99 Saturday Camp IV.
Started at 6 A.M. and after breakfast made the ascent of the eastern end of Cynos Bluff.
Broke camp at nine and at 11.45 arrived at Medicine Bow on the U.P. R. R.
After looking over the village and its beer saloons and gambling houses drove a mile to the Medicine Bow River when we had lunch.
At half past one started for our night's camp. Prof. Smith had to go back to the station to adjust tickets for the returning party and as less than half an hour we had gone on the army trail, After looking around for an hour or so, Smith riding 3 or 4 miles away in a different direction. One of our horse men went after him and then he concluded to "ride over" on the south Med. cow, some miles from Medicine Bow,
and next morning to this camp we saw one J Ostorne dying. Took two photos of it.
