Western Winter Wren. Olbiorchilus hiemalis pacificus. Rather rare. Red-Breasted Nuthatch. Sitta canadensis. Not common. Breeding. Chestnut-backed Chickadee. Parus rufescens. Rather common. Usually seen in small flocks. Saw one carrying an insect in its mouth, as if to young, May 10th. Regulus satrapa divacens Western Golden-crowned Kinglet. Not common. Breeding. Sitkan Kinglet. Regulus calendula grinnelli. Rare. Shot. Alaska Hermit Thrush. Hylocichla guttata. Not common. Robin. Merula migratoria. Rather common, in small flocks. Perhaps some of them are ss. propinqua. Ioreus marinus Varied Thrush. Not very common. Saw a female carrying nest material on April 23rd. Birds in general are plentiful on the water, but land birds are few in species and in most cases few in individuals also.
