Highgate Centre, Sep. 24, 1952. Sunday. After crossing Stumperford Brook on Ht. Abacus road from the farm road to over Grand on High-gate slate and then comes after the afternoon Mielm and the giant Mielm conglomerate. Boulders here up to 3 feet across. To the west comes in micaceous slate that later on turned out to be Colchester, Then the first Lentic to the east, in the (Highgate?) dolomite is about 60 feet long by 10 or so wide. It lies to the north of the road and appears to be a higher one than the other two seen this morning. Then in the lay rise to the west and to the south of the road there is the second Lentic of li. like the Rocklides one. At about 90 feet long along the O-S. Strike, 30 feet wide, and one can see about 6 feet of thickness. This immediately overlain by the Colchester slate. Beneath the Lentic at the southern edge there is a fine-grained dolomite. One can see a good exposure of the fault now, making it quite something like that dip towards the Lentic. About two thirds It appears to be conglomeratic. The felsic core comes once again in slate. To me the dol and li look like lentils but the width up the dip slope appears to indicate that the li may have far more wider than 30 feet. Therefore more circular or in outline. Going over of the hill where we saw still older Colchester slate and still liron slaty unit dol. pebbles, only piece of tr
