Saturday 5/13/95 "Sugar Creek Section" left Rochester, south on ll.s 52 through Chaffield to Fountain. Turned west on County Road 8; about 1 mile west a large working X - excellent exposures Continued on road ca 1/2 miles from turn off. (5A) Road cut at top of hill (west side) has green Decorah Shale overlain by platy late s.lvs. of Cummingville Fm. Road cut is grass covered & small trees are growing. Decorah shale passes through 3 or more (?) ft ledges before reaching Plattville - Plattville is poorly exposed but I saw at least 15' of it in stream gully.
