Cincinnati, April 19, 1926, Monday. The day is bright but cold - feels freezing. At 9 A.M. I leave Albert home, and he takes me to the railway station. He was to meet me at the Gilman Hotel for lunch at noon, and I waited until 12:40 but he did not turn up. Walked to the depot, had a little to eat and then got on the train wondering all morning about what became of Albert. Four minutes before the train pulled out he turned up, when he had been badly cut on the right knee by a razor barber - the blade slipped and a gash 1 1/2 inches long almost down to the bone. Why does Albert not shave himself, and why does he get to a razor barber? I did not tell him these things, for the evidence shows that Albert is poor of judgment. When the train pulled out I was also most overcome with worry. In a fine Pullman not crowded. Left to Cleveland at 4:20. Retired at 9 P.M. April 20 - 1926 A fine morning at Albany. The Catskills are all white with snow and brown logs in the morning light. We set to N.Y. City at 9:40 A.M. Left at 10 A.M. for New Haven and home once more.
