84 C.A. Box 2nd half of 1957-58 field notebook #2 Marathon, Texas walked back eastward - (Oanture) - on all gravel with 20-30 long(?) different moderately mag Conglomerate cuts into the lower beds in the excavation it is faced eastward. Not much change in thickness but the lower C. sequence is folded slightly beneath the Conglomerate beds and suggests pre-conglomerate warping. The conglomerate was thicker, thin rapidly 8-50' and lies resting on an eroded surface on the Lower K. (2'+3') Kemp's 15 cores is probably a 6d - 5 Conglomerate are apparent in the slope behind the first one. The valley about ½ mile SE of Gaptown box about 220' N. from here - The wall shows red gray sandstone + siltstone (picture) beds are rather massive (3') with interbedded red & gray chalybeitic clay. Axled by K. 7/23/58 SW face Leonard Mt. Coll. 7/23/58/1 - is from small outcrop (rather local) about 40yds WSW of collection 8/24/57/2 on SW side Leonard Mt. picture section 55 - from loc. 8/24/57/2 Coll. 7/23/58/2 - east digging is about 1/4 way up SW face Leonard Mt. - 50yds down dip from my end of outcrop.
