114 +1 Gap tank locality Section 17 - This is an un waycamp, concealed yoult on faults - Marble Sarsy w.c. There are 1) a number cherts over out pibble conglomerates and quartzite schists -- S' orange brown weathering, chertile local parts 8/24/58/1 2) Covered faulted locality distance problematical ±20' 3) Calcsinite, orange brown weathering, dark gray fresh, many pumulinities; fragments, vs. Ss matrix (Collection 7/18/57/2 Coave are slopes) 4" to 2' beds, whole partings; 9' 33' 4) Covered bed, passed once upturned outcrop marks no? fault of about 10' throw, Swest side is: at 63' the outcrop strikes me in south south - apparent cut by a fault in that direction, E.side [faulst adds about 35' to this interval better exposed 5) Calcsinite, orange-brown weathering, schist chert 17e' 6) Marbley Congrob - a conglomerate like S seems to split -- or middle part [5'] 115 8) 9) 10) 7/18/57/2 7? 1) 7/18/57/4 7/18/57/3 like unit 5, i.e. 3" to 8' beds, 4' The back of this unit has been faulted off To the best of my ability I believe found the same beds as 6, 7, covered for 13', then Calcsinite, orange weathering with an increasing % of quartz sand upward; Individual conglomer; quartzite & cherts common but with weathering; many limestone fragments to. 24' - upper part dominantly congl - lower part Ss. Covered probably the same as 9 Collection 7/18/57/5 - P.King, Charlton Ls at base of Gaptank along old road. (Way of Cahaba) -- at type area.
