Remsen, J.V. 1972 Journal 34 Lemmings: 2 site 1 (getting scarcer) Predators: nothing new Longspurs: huge catch of unbanded males at site 1. 37 longspurs captured, of which ~21 were unbanded. One unbanded bird weighed 36.4g. Ran trap lines plus checked nests 0930-1200, 1330-1730, 1830-2230. Looked for Curlew Sandpiper nests with FAP 0715-0930. Shorebirds: FAP and myself collected the mystery plover, named "Tee-Lew-eee" for his clear whistle which is Am. unlike the Golden. More white on sides and on wings may mean Pluvialis apricaria, but final determination not certain. 2 Buffies seen NW of site 1 and 1 on road at site 1 - no displays noted by me (but FAP did note some). Knots in a flock SW of Village Ridge. Long-billed Dowitcher in Voth Slough. Non-breeding Red Phalarope at site 1 Migration: 2 Arctic Terns → E along coast, 1 Arctic Loon→N. 29 June NARL, Barrow, Alaska Locations: IBP site 1 [illegible] Times: 1440-1740, 1930-2045 Wind: 10-25 mph Sky: foggy-overcast Temp: 35° Species: Pintail 1 Ruddy Turnstone 2 Dunlin 4 Pectoral Sandpiper 15
