Remsen, J.V. 1972 Journal Time-activity recordings from 1030-1315. Followed SY-RB for 2 hours. 2 females seen bathing in Voth Creek while 2 males looked on. * Chansed nest IBP-2 to 8 sec intervals at 0900. Shorebirds: 3 Long-billed Dowitchers observed to fly over (one at a time) Site 1; another observed in Voth Slough. Looked at three 4-egg Bairds Sandpiper nests in Drum area. Migration: flocks of 20 and 7 knots seen. Also large flocks of Pectoral Sandpipers, with 100 in one area of Voth Slough alone. First flocks of Red Phalaropes also seen: 20, 30 in Voth Slough, 10 Snow Geese → W with Ross' Goose. 7 Arctic Terns and 1 Sabine's Gull observed along coast; 1 Arctic Tern on Village Ridge → S * A male longspur tried to displace a Semipalmated Sp. from a stake but the Sp. gave him a flash of the underwing and he retreated. 26 June NARL Barrow, Alaska Locations: Gasline Ridge, IBE site 1, Britton area Times: 1345-1730, 2245-0200 Wind: 0-25 mph Temp: 40 Sky: clear Species: loon (sp) 1 Pintail 1 Oldsquaw 4 Steller's Eider 4 American Golden Plover 4
