Remsen, J.V. 1972 Journal Lemmings: 4 at IBP site. Predators: no jaegers seen moving northE, all 5 sitting on tundra near IBP side, but didn't stay long. No owls. Longspurs: recorded feeding observations with TWC 2000-2130 1015-1200. Alone from 0800-0'. Makes chasing other males when near female. Shorebird courtship: Pectoral seen inflating chest for female, making deep booming sound as he displayed. Turnstones also giving flight song. Curlew Sandpipers looked for but not seen. Density much lower today - more spread out due to melt-off. Migration: 30 Odsquaws → NE 4 Stellar's Eiders → SW 5 Arctic Terns → NE along coast 1 Sabine's Gull → NE " 1 Golden-crowned Sparrow heard singing 81dg- near 350. NARL, Point Barrow, Alaska 11 June 1115-1545, 1845-2130 Location: IBP site + walks thru Britton area to NARL Wind: mostly calm Temp: 40-55 Sky: mostly clear Ground: very little snow left
