Remsen, J.V. 1972 Greater Scayp 26 July Point Barrow, Alaska 0130 - A ♂ was spotted between the tip of the point and the tide gauge swimming with a flock of Oldsquaws. It was definitely a scayp right away with its dark head, and chest, back; light eye; and light sides. In flight it showed a white wing stripe extending far into primaries, indicating Greater instead of Lesser. I was able to get within ~200 yds and through the 20x scope, the very rounded head profile could be seen - smooth - no point at all as with Lesser Scayp. The bird was also seen by Jeff Myll.
