Remsen, J.V. 1972 Journal First group of Dunlin seen : 6 in Voth Slough, But other Dunlin still seen displaying. Most shorebirds at present seemed to be clumped into nursery-aggregations of attending-young adults; it is unlikely that this clumping is due to a clumped food supply; more likely it aids in mutual defense, especially with a couple of Turnstones at the nucleus. One such nursery in Voth Slough contained 2 turnstones, 3♀ Curlew Sandpipers, 2 Baird's, 6 Dunlin, 3 Pectorals, 4 Semipalmateds, and 10 Red Phalaropes. Migration: 1 Arctic and 2 Red-throated Loons overhead. 19 July NARL Barrow, Alaska Location: Site 1,2 Times: 1345-1745, Wind: 0-5mph S, Temp: 50 Sky: overcast to e.c Species: American Golden Plover 6 Ruddy Turnstone 1 Dunlin 2 Pectoral Sandpiper 30 Baird's Sandpiper 4 Semipalmated Sandpiper 1 Curlew Sandpiper 14(5a) Red Phalarope 2 Pomarine Jaeger 5 Long-tailed Jaeger 3
