Petersburg is a town of the size of Amherst. A great deal smaller as I look it over houses all small, has no large buildings save one the Colored College on a hill as you enter. This is an immense brick structure. Petersburg looks like a place that if we captured he wouldn't know what to do with it; yet that it has had its day is shown by the fact that the Galovans told us that Mac's Harnes (Van Sorn) brigade was to repeat its charge next Friday. They say 15,000 people will be there I don't know what they will do with them!
