Peck's Devils Tower locality.
According to Peck the locality is
within the Monument boundary;
but no Morrison within this boundary,
(see Robinson 1956). Just north of the
tower there is a Sundance dip slope
with a prominent knob - but the
knob according to Robbie is Redwater.
We found some white-weather limestone
flint resembling that in Morrison, but
hill seems to be dk. gray shale; ls. with
small gastropods. Also checked slope
with knobs to E above Belle Fourch
River, same setup as on the N. spur.
Out North road to Robbies Morrison locality
west of Tower at old Cabins, 132521
Morrison is well exposed - pastel
variegated beds with dinosaur bones. Sample
W-57-10 taken of limey silt with
some ostracods about 15'+ above base
Morrison. Doubt if Peck had this
locality in mind. Best check would
be to have Peck point out his
locality. - Paleo evidence can be
ignored.
