Sioux City at 10128 miles 1939 Left Lance Creek at 6:45, breakfast in Lusk, said goodbye to Szudy and took off on U.S. 20. Good driving day, cloudy forenoon, we're just ahead of overcast with rain moving east. Mrs. M. was delighted that we were "bringing rain" with our departure. U.S. 20 fair thru W. Nebr. and Sand Hills region; the lack of traffic is its big advantage. Road better E of Valentine. Got to S.C. about 6 after 501 miles for day.
