SP Nyers 1979 (Calidris mullanotus) GROD 4, NAREL, Barrow, Alaska 21 June (emil!) a high of epic proportions only on the westerly of low, wet habitat. I cannot wait to see the transient habitat roots. 22 June 0615 at Smithsonian Bldg: copulation!! It began with P grace display, changing to culustor grace and accompanied them by rolling grace call. P behind Q, as very wing up then diving up, squawking horribly, waning his wings, racing + lowering his neck. Then he mounted. Squawking continually unabated as he hovered over her, trembling his back, wings fluttering. He hovered for ~1.5 minutes! I taped much of the action but was interfered by motors in the Barrow area. The P changed his tone just as copulation ended - he flew off.
