Southwest face of Butte shows fair
section up from barren layer gray
ls. concs. with some yellow bn
calcite in cracks - worth, yell-gray,
gray, rarely reddish bn = layer at sample I of
1957 section Loc. 30.
From this layer approx 33' to
beginning slowly wchly which is light
yellow gray in contrast to light
gray below.
11' to barren cone layer
at slope shoulder - massive
mottled yellowish gray clayey sand
17' to red-bn wcth, large ls
concs with yell-gray weth. pounky
sandy jackets, Numerous (?) large
spheno's.

1. In this old section, the 41.5
feet between big red sphenodiscos-
bearing concs at top (=conc. D) and
the conc. layer (= A) at top of
sampled section, includes slump
which eliminates 18' of section.
