1st day in No. Dzh (July 19) Hump Creek - Locality 48. - Nothing new here - Izn collected some good Tenebridae, We dug out some "Helymonites" that had not yet been microlized - the bumpy tubes were a gray clay. (1) NE 1/4, SW 1/4, sec 10., T. 129 N., R. 81 W. a lower Hell Creek pinnacle with Fe cone layer containing gastropods + clams as steinkerns. This is just above contact liginitic shale - or assoc. with some of it (2) SE 1/4, SW 1/4 sec 26, T 134 N, R. 80 W., on south side of Cannonball River, Sioux Co., No. Dzh. - East of Salem Locality 288 A-1409 Bluffs in Fox Hills s2nd with cone ledges and a few scrt concretions Sphenodiscus found by Roger - Posinopsis and Tenebridae in ledges - chief fossils of ledges. Mactra-like clam + wider variety, some Discocophites in concretions Note - one of best sections in 2002 is across River near here, cross at Salem. Boys call it Lizards section - he & Cobben measured it. Banded bed- Temular Lake contact in it. 33
