Locality 91. Large area badland type exposures from summit below bounded beds into Hell Creek, in W 2nd SW facing bluffs east of Moreau River in W 1/2, Sec. 9, T. 14 N., R. 19 E., Redelun NE quad., Ziebach Co., So. Dk. Access to this locality can be had from south, coming in on trail above bluffs E of Ivan Lightning and follow it on down to lower terrace in bend of river west of locality bluffs - then wading across the Moreau. Bluffs show complete bounded bed section although base is in question as contact nowhere clearcut. No Timber Lake fossils were found but concretions of brittle Is do occur below bounded beds, in a Trail City type lithology. At or near contact is a bentonite or bentonitic clay. Calcite-lime (use in about 2/3 up in bounded beds, and another at top which channels into highly bentonitic pvt bounded beds. Hell Creek in for 20-30 feet to top of bluff, Section not as fossiliferous as Ivan Lightning. Should be a good check if bottom can be found. In NE. cor. Sec. 9 - 1st SW gulley in face in this corner, seems best spot for bottom. Here gyrosite layers exposed and can probably get down to upper T.L. bentonite 24
