Section 1. West end of exposure on shoulder just
east of road, measuring up from
road.
1) 9.0 Shale, gray, finely silty, a few
blobs and thin layers silt
scattered in it. At top is
zone fairly large 7', purple
brn to brn weathering brittle is
cones with golden celestite. Some
jarosite stain... Rare fossils (Long clams)
2) 7.5 Shale, chiefly darker gray, silty,
in bigger blockier freys than in 1).
2.0+ more of dark gray silty
shaly clay at base. Minor jarosite
stain
3) 3.3 Shale as in 1), but slightly
siltier, weathers brownish with
some jarosite stain. In
upper 2' scattered red-burn
weather. cones of light gray
limestone.
4) 12.0 Shale, dark gray, thinly interbedded
to interlaminated with light
gray silt. Jarosite silt blobs
