Lance Creek Wyoming. Sandier marine at base-non marine at top also sandier. a) Bottom. a Trail City equiv? Included in the Upper Pierre seems barren of fossils. Grey silt with clay or a silty vfgy ss. b) Timber Lake equiv? Massive buff weathering cliff forming ss. of medium consolidation containing 3 disz. layers of Red sandy Cowes. From Top- a) Disconformity layer. Shows definite cessation of deposition for a time by presence of phosphate nodules & phosphate shells & Ammonite frags. Sphero, Disco & "Futoceras". Also rill marks & cross-bedding in minute channels along upper surface this zone is also cut into the regular massive buff ss & is much more resistant
