June 6th 50th A.M. Temp + 8 Bar. 29.50 6th 55th A.M. Sun bears 149° 3 P.M. Breakfast over. We start in about an hour. I have just found a caterpillar. The cocoon lay on a bare rock from which the snow has just melted. Monday, May 8. 49th day Bay Ford 1st 30th A.M. The Lord is certainly kind to us. Last year this fjord was deep in snow. Two years ago we snow-shoed the whole distance. I expected to do so today. It is as hard as a floor. We might easily have covered fifty- or sixty- miles.
