I have just found
a caterpillar. The cocoon lay
on a bare rock from which the
snow has just melted.
Monday, May 8.

Bay Ford
1st 30th A.M.
The Lord is certainly
kind to us. Last year this
fjord was deep in snow. Two
years ago we snow-shoed
the whole distance. I expected
to do so today. It is as hard
as a floor. We might easily
have covered fifty- or sixty-
miles. However, we stopped here
for lunch for supper. The crabs
are fairly crawling with them.
