at the northern end of
the island a few days ago we noted the same
at an altitude of 500 feet.
The Eskimos Say that
bears go each around the
hills for grass because they are hungry. The
female which was killed here was frightfully poor.
Possibly this is the hardest time of year for them as it is for the Eskimos. No seals are up on the ice yet and will not be for two weeks.
When ascending this morning to build cairn I noticed the purple Saxifrage in abundance.
The islands seen in the south must have been Sable and Eynouth Islands, although as indicated on map must be small for all we saw.
I am quite sure now that the land seen by us day before yesterday
