"not fairly out of camp this morning when we ran into a bear. With three dead dogs behind us and one feeding on the ledge we did not need to be admonished to "hold our horses" Archie took him with his running but before the dog's tooth reached him although badly wounded she just put a good fight. We carried the meat and skin and came right on. at 8.00 P.M Sun bears 44° E Temp - 26 Bar. 29.12 There are many tracks of foxes, ptarmigan, and lemmings here. In the river bed we find pieces of a good quality of coal. Ab. found at Chalo builds a very good double glove.
