Kellett wintered at Dease Island in 1852-53: also wintered in the ice pack off Bryan Martin Island. Parry and Lieut. Lidder in Hecla and Griper wintered at Winter Harbor in 1819-1820. US Chanticleer travelled around Shores of Melville and Prince Patrick Islands: Discovery of Linley Island From Osborn's Journal we learn that land was seen northward of Helen Island, and later to north and north west. From Lt Richards on Cage Needlewood at an elevation of 150 feet Linley Land was seen at a distance of about 20 miles, covering 10° of the horizon in a north- northeast direction. To north of Point Success 50-60 feet above the sea a portion of a tree found also fossil bones
