Monday April 16. They started across from Cape Liverel. Greenland is a tableland averaging centrally 1200 to 1500 feet and is surrounded by a sharply defined belt of low level country. "In crossing over to Ellesmere and around Ringue Land the surveyors alone cannot be depended upon." Left on the night of the 16th arrived evening of the 20th. Drove back to Cape Liverel arriving there on the 28th. Spring 1901 Isachsen and Hassel left Cape South West on April 14 with 500 lbs on each sledge. The ice was uneven. Reached land April 17. Saw Marie Christian's Land on April 27. Caribou, wolf, and Arctic hare in Ringue Land, also Marmiqua.
