New Zealand March 23 - 6 P.M. - 20 N N Bar 30° 30 Record summit Mt. Cook. May 1, 1916. With one Eskimo, twelve dogs, two sledges, I reached this point yesterday in three marches from northern end of island. There I have placed my records; put in cairn near old fort, and put on summit a cross at altitude of 12,000 feet. And on my return to Edith, with Greenland, from Friday Round (King Edward Island). Have sent two Eskimo case South-West for quick-when. Leave for here today. Killed one bear yesterday; dogs in good condition. All well Maxwell
