May 1st Cloudy, cold. Barometer remains high constantly. May 5th We are sending the civil men back today and by arrangement will the Doctor go on paying two more days for the time they have stayed here. Weather and sea are good now. May 7th No ship yet. It is advised for me to go to Godhope after motor boat goes from here about the 15th of this month. The Inspector lives there and may admit my going on a frigate & get by steamer to Philadelphia. The Danish men here suppose their country to be in the war.
