The Mary Minturn River (after the sister of Mrs Henry Grinnell) issues from beneath a glacier in numerous streams which unite about four miles above the mouth. Lat 78°52' 7 miles beyond Cape William Wakefield Shoalberay known to Dr Harris party as the Chimney Rock. The brig was placed between the islands in General Harbor store house on Butler Island Dye " " " Observatory on Fern Rock 50 faces Drug and Hotroad and about 30 feet above the water line. Here we raised four walls of granite blocks (wooden roof.) The magnetic observatory adjoining -- shire, ten feet square. Cahino huls three miles from the brig, four in number.
