As I had never
trilled a bear this one was
to be mine. Although
conditions were extremely
unfavorable for filming -
cold and snowing - I
felt that I would rather
have his picture than
his skin. I would
photograph first then shoot.
Before our traces were
unbaraged the bear got
our scent and left at
such a speed that our
chances of seeing him
again were very slight.
Archie started calling
to Sammie and front to
larry. Our dogs were
dead. They would not
move faster than a walk.
