JP Myers 1976 Dendroica tigrina Nuwak Pt Barrow, Alaska 6 June I found a Bayu May Warbler this afternoon evening (~8:20pm) at Nuwak at the far end of the patch, foraging on insects among emergent vegetation in melt ponds. Flitting about occasionally calling a high tree call, very short and repeated a few times. description - small Dendroica w/ tawny olive back streaked blade. yellow rump. chestnut patch on side of head. a large white-wing patch (not very large, but bigger than a bar). Dark streaking through yellow breast, which fades into white belly. yellow vent. throat yellow. heavy yellow collar extending most of way around head although not connected at top. With dark top of head gives strong implication of cap. yellow eye-ring. thin dark eye strip running to base of bill. I watched it for ~10 minutes from less than c0' distance. excellent light (full sun). It is much brighter than shown in Robbins field guide.
