J.P. Myers 1976 Phalaropus fulicarius Barrow, Alaska 28 June notes on this species from this season at Barrow prior to present date are (un) in journal. In general it is less common than last year. Today found small groups of gg on grids - they have been doing so for several days as reflected by transect results. However-obvious pairing still going on, with classic 8-9 butting behavior still present in a few locations 29 June captured banded 8 on nest (4 eggs by Smithsonian Bldg) USFWS #76 - 134987 30 June 88 moving in significant flocks now - one seen of ~45 individuals. Small groups also found throughout Grid 2 area. Of particular interest is that groups of 10-20 gg are foraging on the uplands - on polygon tops, craddling about even though within a few (10) meters of Arctophila ponds.
