Transsects 6-10, Barrow, Alaska
4 August
(cont'd)
same high level as they were recorded before; any impression is however, that they
may be shifting somewhat in habitat, spreading out into more types. For e.g. I record
d several adults along transect 10 in low Carex-Eriophorum r.-unheard of.
the ponds are drying to such a point now that duculis and pectoralis can wade across
most of them. Thus I'm seeing now 2 spp foraging in situ where last year
they rarely, if ever did, probably taking fairy shrimp which usually are the
province of red phalaropes.
