through the rough ice north of Cape for about one hour to edge of open water. Followed this north then east of fairly good grassy Deadwood of several miles in about 6 hours. Here we found a light soft snow recently fallen of 2 inches to and foot in thickness. Due to condition of ice inside of Littleton Island we were obliged to come over land. This was rather hard we loaded teams with many furs. At top of hill we met Jot going north with Pauls for on a real hunting trip. The game is all the woods. At the hour we found a crowd from North East Bay with letters from Ed and Paul- and a request for more food. Also found all-ah- to meet us with news
