Friday May 1st- 52nd day Pretty rough coming clown, blowing and drifting. A big white wolf came within 36 yards of our sledges about 8 miles from here. My lying dog sniffed this trace and took after him. Over to the ruin looked him over put his tail between his legs and came slowly back wearing a shame faced expression. The wolf followed us into camp but would not come within rifle shot. I had a mug up at 4:44 following which E - went hunting killing a caribou getting back at 12. We find everything all right in deep out tent-damp and cold. Had cramps last night due to moisture in sleeping bag. Had a big feed of heart, liver, kidneys, and tenderloin, and turned in so full that- we could hardly breathe. Still blowing from the southard and drifting.
