Monday - March 23rd Sunday, March 22nd 12th day. A quiet Sunday and even more beautiful than yesterday - glorious sunshine and not a breath of air. Our housekeeper frugality. The boys have left also for meals and Billy - to bring beef wit. Only Mrs Waltons and children all else are here, quiet faithful fellows who will go the limit I believe. The parson has made an oiling lamp out of a German tin, mixing up fat and a piece of cotton cloth; so our light is set up like a palace and is so warm that it is dripping. As I was returning from the tea this morning my team far off on the hills where we ploughed the roots often yesterday I heard to baying of a pack of wolves, my dogs raised their tones to the sky and sent back too long answering cry.
