JP Myere 1975 Journal Transacts 1,3,5 to join the mobs from as far away as well fulicanius, and they return to the area more quickly. Afternoon - habitat dula (Grid 3) 23 July 0830 - sunny with 0% cloud cover, light NE wind. 38°F at 0800. Few birds on the grid. Drying process continues. totals: alpina 2 melanotos ♂ 0 ♀ 3 peulla ♂ 3 ♀ 7 Phalacopus ♀ 0 Afternoon - habitat dula see melanotos sp. accent. Evening: Pt. Barrow Spit w/ Celer Brisbin from ERDA. We obtained 3-wheel vehicle from the lab for transportation. Weather was atrocious - cold and slightly windy with a heavy fog. This cut down bird watching because of the poor visibility. Main pt. of trip was to find Calidris virgata's chicks, which we did (see sp. accent). Also found bairdii, alba, + Ph. fulicanius chicks. (Grid 2) 24 July Censused grid 2 from 0830 → 1pm. Few birds. Cloudy, slight wind. The last several nights and mornings have proven cold with freezing temperatures, local frost froots. See melanotos sp. accent re 8-9 observations. On the grid as has been true for the last several samples, the dominant event is the absence of birds from the dry high polygonal areas. Birds are only in the wet flats and the polygonal areas (if pond or still saturated) ground. totals.
