J P Nayers 1975 Journal Grid Z Census route: 8 July (coat?) alfana 16 favidii 1 fuscicollis 0 malanotus 8 27 & 8 maeui 0 pusilla 11 Linnodromus 0 Pluvialis d. 2 Arenaria i. 0 Phlomapos foliarius 8 14 & 21 From this tally it should be apparent that flocks of Phalacrocorax have left grid Z now as well. Nowtules, some turbinid, even hookleg + grousing individuals remain. (See appendant). 9 July Strong W wind blowing subterminal showers today. I spent most of day in field trying to help P Weber's vegetation classification work for my purposes. TRANSECTS 1, 3, 5 10 July more miserable weather - rain with moderate to strong E wind. During the last few days enough rain has fallen to saturate reached the lower tendon, and to a certain extent correct the pond evaporation which had been occurring. Did not come near replacing all the water, however. Starting at 0430 I began sampling Transect 5, beginning with #5. Finished the transects at 145. Temperature throughout morning hovered around 30°C. Rain picked up around 1130, after having ceased for an hour or so. In the afternoon returned to transect 1 in order to continue working at habitat characterizations. Weber's system will prove difficult, because the modu, which may serve to generally characterize plant cover over a large area (one modum) has considerable small scale variation - that is, one can find the vegetation that he uses to describe one modum within a
