JP Myers 1975 Calidris melanotos following Grid 2, adjacent to IBP site #1, Pt Barrow, Alaska 12 June evening 2015 began following preboreal 8°. 6/12/75-1 ① feeding then flew to N fighting with other male actual physical fight, hovering in air, grappling + then falling to snow. Standing on top of the others, both then flied off calling. Flying 11 calling (Wootsin - intern chatter call) suddenly α & appeared + they both began chasing her. Flying flew far out Lavaired 8°(4-5, 7) Fighting was in (4,6) ③ feeding - 8° landed on perch site. the above fight began when 8°, which had been by 8 at location ①, flew off after first 8° but diverted when other 8° appeared. The 8° being followed had landed until 2018 when it flew (forward) (4,5) & hooting + landed up in 10 seconds (called 4 time). appears to have display mound in (4,5) about ~20' north of (4,6) stake. ⑤ fed ⑤ fed ⑥=5 ⑦ loot it in snowstorm ⑧ - 8♀ preboreals landed in (2,4); no sign of 8°. ⑨ 8° appeared flying from (0,0) direction to supplant a ♂ 8° by (3,5) stake in (3,4) Flew up to ~ (2,8) then circled back to site 29. Performed a circuit returning ⑩ from supplantation, going around (1,7) region. ⑪ beside red phalarope w/ tail up going crrrack a crrrack a .... ⑫ 29 displaying 31=39 feeding 32=38 feeding 33=32 34=32 35=32 36=32 37=32 39=32 preening. Then flew in circle + hoorted. Landed in front of 8°RP, hoorted + then supplanting it. I marked as flight 5 on map
