JPMYERS 1975 Phalaropus fulicarius Grid 2, 4km S. of NARL, Pt. Barrow, Alaska 24 June within the area of research to the 8th, thus spacing out nests to a certain extent. 3 July first obvious signs of 88 flushes within the gridded area today. 88 still affordably seen alighting 88 but most 88 are now spending their time feeding. few birds calling marsh call overhead. 7 July Grid 2 found empty nests - chicks have begun to hatch Grid 2 8 July more empty nests, also found one with one chick (hatchling), other eggs popped. While scanning found 2 chicks in area where 38th were behaving as if flying over or of chicks. Will the 88 be using these chicks together? Transsect 13.5 22 July 88 flocking along lake edge on transect 3. terrible harassment while running transsect. see journal 26 July Hatched chick along transect 4 Barrow Spit snow Burnik 28 July Fluocs of 88 along lee side of spit on Ebon lagoon.
